One Day Trek to Kothaligad Trek
Let’s connect to our roots.
Kohoj is a medieval military fortification located on the Manor-Wada road in Palghar district, Maharashtra. The fort is said to be about 800 years old and finds a mention in the Purandar treaty along with 22 other forts which were surrendered by ChhatrapatiShivaji Maharaj to the Mughals on 11 June 1665. It was also an important fort for keeping a look at the nearby coast and thus to keep the territory safe and secure. The trek starts from Vaghote Village and takes around 3 hours (approximately) to reach the peak. Initially, the route goes through paddy fields. After paddy fields, we come across a beautiful lake known as Pazhar Lake/Shelte Lake. On the plateau of the fort, a temple of Lord Shankar and three groups of water cisterns can be seen. On the top of this hill, we come across a bastion and a temple of Lord Hanuman.
Kohoj Fort is known for its man-shaped pinnacle created due to wind-erosion. It is an amazing creation of nature. It is one of the less-explored treks and considered as a treat for nature enthusiasts.
